The sloppy Joe
This is a delicious 4 quart slow cooker recipes. Sloppy Joes originated in the USA in the roaring 20’s & has been a classic favorite ever since. This jazzed up version will make you happy. Dancing is also permitted.
Ingredients for slow cook:
- 3 lbs Ground beef/pork
- 2 (2 cups) Onions, chopped
- 4 Cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 2 1/2 Sliced sweet red peppers
- 4 (2 cups) Stalks of celery, chopped
- 1 (12 oz) Can of beer
- 4 tsp Mustard
- 4 tsp Chili powder
- 2 tsp Unrefined apple cider vinegar
- Dash hot pepper sauce
- 1 cup Ketchup
- tbsp Molasses
Ingredients to serve:
- 16 Round rolls, cut open & toasted
- Assorted toppers: pickle slice/pickled peppers, etc
Preparation:
Fry up the meat, onions & garlic over a medium heat until the onions are tender & meat is brown. Don’t over cook. Drain off any excess fat. Cook: Grab your slow cooker & pop the meat mix in along with the sweet peppers, beer, sliced up celery, molasses, ketchup & mustard, chili powder, vinegar, & lastly, hot sauce. Cover & cook on low for 6-8 hours. If you are in a hurry, use the high setting for 3-4 hours. Serve: To serve, spoon meat over the tasted bun’s bottom halves. Add any toppings that make you happy & close the buns. Enjoy!
